    Canvas Size

Typically, what size canvas us used for work that would remain and be shown in and on the computer, and also what size canvas would be used on a painting that would be printed on most of a 8.5 x 11 paper on a dot matrix printer such as a HP2410..

    Hi Rick,

For printing, that will basically depend on the output resolution of your printer. If your printer for example prints at 100 DPI ( dots per inch ) and you want an image which will be 8 by 10 inches in size, then you'd want an 800 x 1000 pixel sized image.

For storage on your local computer, that is down to personal preference the way I see it. if you want to use the images as wallpapers and that sort of thing, then your screen resolution is probably a good size to be using. Working at screen resolution ( full screen window of ArtRage, and choosing "use screen size" when you go to the File menu and choose "New Painting" ) is fairly common.

    Hope that's of some help!

We're also adding a couple of things in an upcoming update which should remove the need for any calculation, should make things more straightforward! Glad that helped.

A few weeks ago, an unnamed ArtRage staffer implied you were very close to releasing the next version. I sure hope we get to enjoy it all summer (in the US) long... hint, hint, hint...

The upcoming release is really quite huge. We're still in Beta testing, and doing translations of the ArtRage manual and UI to French and German.
We're likely less than four weeks from release.

    Four weeks?

Four weeks???? Since the forum hints started becoming a daily thing, Ambient has pushed me into a thrice-daily website check!!!
I think I've bought like four or five licenses of ArtRage, and have been using it heavily since its initial 1.x release.
Ambient, let us buy our way into a beta test if you're gonna drag us along that much longer!!!!

With the utmost love and respect,
    David

See, now this is why it's a bad idea for us to give hints as to what is upcoming, and when we're likely to release!
