    Question for Artists: Canvas Ratio

Hi. As I view the artwork here periodically, I am amazed over and
over again, at the creativity and the level of detail in many of the
    pieces. Just super work.

I am using a mouse (no tablet) and am trying to gain some skill in
ArtRage. And I welcome any trips and insights you artists might
    share.

Here's my question: do most of you work on canvas' that are much
larger in size than the final pieces which are shared here? If so,
what's the approximate ratio? For instance, if the original artwork if 2,
3, or 4 times larger than the shared image at ArtRage.

I'm asking as I'm trying to grasp how you achieve such levels of
detail. (Other than changing the brush sizes in the piece).

    Thank you very much.

    Ken

yeah, what sweedie said. and then, when you export the picture as a photoshop file or a jpeg, resize it down to 800 pixels or less in both directions, so you can post it here. the pics posted here are usually smaller copies of the original paintings.
if it's not fun, what's the point?

Thank you both for confirming what I thought about the canvas size.
And thank you for the great artwork.

    Hi.

Main thing first is to thing and decide what media-type do you use when introduce yours drawings.

Paper-plotting A3, A4, , postcard A6, web-page, computer crt or lcd size, hdtv, mobile phone, etc.????????????

I found wikipedia next pages where is this standardization.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paper_size

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_television

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Display..._in_Resolution

I think that main think is of cource size of drawing (file size and image quality accurace) but image-ratio selection is maybe more important.

    A-series image-ratio is about 7:10, crt 3:4, lcd 4:5, hdtv 16:9, etc.

Digital photos, camera, 3:4. Example h1200w1600.

One tip is design drawings so that made object middle of canvas so that there is enough free space round it.
(If use export layer save .png format then can use easy same object different canvas size and/or backround drawings or painted frames.)
