    quick question thanks!

    Hello,

When using artrage android, I can record and playback into Art Rage Lite, then I can edit in on my desktop software. It then saves in a .ptg format, but I cannot open and re-edit the picture in my art rage app on my android.

I understand you can save the picture on your desktop as .png and reopen in the droid app, because quality decreases a lot.

Is there a way to keep the quality?

You should be able to open the PTG file again on Android - just copy the file back to the Android device. The only reason it would not work is if you make a painting that is too large for the app (bigger than 2048 pixels across).

    So....

I go to Art Rage and I click Play Script, I choose my Script and select Accelerate Playback, Play at Original Size, 2048 Width, and Height, Printed at 72 (all default)

I save it as .ptg and then e-mail it to myself on gmail.

I open gmail on my Android Tablet, I download the .ptg file and then go to file manager, it says "No Application to perform this Action".

Then I go to Art Rage App, Gallery, it's not there, so I go to Import Image, go to downloads and any picture format is availabnle, but.ptg. I can open up pmg, jgep etc. but nothing to do with .ptg.

I am lost.... I bought the full version of both the app and software.

the FAQ page does say, Yes. All versions of ArtRage, including the iPad and the Demo, create PTG files and can open and edit these. So any paintings you create in one version (e.g. the Demo) can be continued with another version (e.g. the iPad or ArtRage 4).

That's why I was asking if the Anndroid can do this also.

Ok, the problem there is that your device isn't recognising the file, so it's not suggesting ArtRage (this varies by device, it works on mine). All you need to do is manually copy the file to the /ArtRagePaintings folder on your device and restart the app. It will then load everything from that folder in the gallery.

Also, I'm not sure if you need the script for another reason, but you can copy PTG files *from* this folder to your desktop as well, so you don't need to play back the script to get the painting (unless that works best for you, of course )

Thanks! So, I hooked up my tablet and transferred the .ptg file to my artrage deskop and back on my artrage tablet and it worked!!!!

My last question, you know how recording the painting allows for higher quality?

My last issue is, if I were to do everything on my tablet and record, I can successful playback to the desktop at higher resolution.

IF, I record on my tablet and then playback on desktop to edit something at 2048x2048, therefore I can transfer it back my tablet, but you only can save it as .ptg since the tablet cannot open up script files format. So, when it transfer it back to my tablet in .ptg it is no longer being recorded and I cannot playback to desktop at higher resolution only at what it is. Correct?

What I was wanting to do is be able to go back and forth with tablet and desktop (while recording) so I can finally playback on desktop at higher resoltuion. is this possible?

Okay, first, ArtRage Lite can't play back at higher resolutions, only ArtRage 4 can do that - so make sure you aren't adding a step that you don't need in there. Especially if you need to keep the size down so that you can keep working on it on Android anyway.

Second, no, a script-created file does not have another script running inside it (that's basically what would be needed) so that the new painting has a script containing the original script and your changes. You can start a NEW script including your current painting... but only in ArtRage 4, and it would include the current painting as a static image, so you couldn't resize it easily.

If you move a painting that has an active script recording to the Android app.... hmmm. I think that should work. There's no official reason it won't work, I'm just not sure if anyone's ever needed to do that. We are testing now

It will have other updates, but we're not sure how major they'll be - mostly we want to get it up to be as similar to the iPad app as possible, aside from any platform differences. Shapes/stencils are very unlikely to happen, I'm afraid - they've been requested a lot, but the code doesn't translate well to our mobile apps and custom resources can be highly problematic. We might figure out a way to do it - but definitely don't plan anything around it.
