Is it possible to export inpasto depth from Artrage?

Or maybe just save a picture with different lighting direction ? light source on the top and on right or left?

I'm afraid not. The 'depth' and the lighting are all the same thing, so it can't be moved, and it doesn't show up without the lighting.

You can export 3D bump maps via Tools>Layer Options>Export Layer To Channels for use with 3D programs like Maya, but I'm not sure if that's anywhere near what you're looking for.

    Examples:

Thanks . it's what I am looking for. From demo version I am only able to export jpg 8bit bump map. Is it possible to export 16 bit tiff ,png or exr?

Also I wonder can I import bump channel back, together with an image to an layer?

One more question. I noticed the layer's depth has correct "Maximim" blending/combine method but without a proper mask for color channels so while the depth may be properly clipped by the depth of another layer, it has no influence on colors. They should theoretically be also clipped /masked when depth values are beneath other layer, but they never do. Is there a setting to fix that?

The full version exports 8 bit PNG for the bump map.

Re. Maximum blend: This only relates to paint volume, the colour on top of the layer stack will always be the one that displays, Maximum blend just takes the higher volume of paint from the individual layers and uses that for the overall depth value when the lighting renderer does its pass.

Imo would be pretty simple to do a mask for colors too , math wise. And it would be something like Zbrush pixols based 2,5d canvas + gloss channel.

It's actually what I am trying to find. An easy and simple Zbrush canvas replacement with glos channel and more convenient regular painting tools.

BTW is it possible to import depth/bump map to a layer together with color image?
