This alien seems to have the skin camouflage and mirroring talent. The game is to spot her correctly on the rocky landscape, I guess ...

Critique? What do you think about dropping the background ladies back a bit more or blend them into the background more. I keep wanting to have my eyes focus on the foreground figure first and foremost. As it is above I feel like I don't have a focal point. Or crop off an inch from the top. Maybe my eyes are being pulled upwards by the negative space. As lovely as it is.

Your eyes are being pulled upwards in the same direction as the journey of her "astral" body. The ride you experience might be the very one you stepped onto!

I have a few comments as a mere observer of the work... they may be wrong.

The work is directed to "astral travel". A mystical journey from reality into the (fictional) supernatural. Notice how the progression is from the bottom to the top.. symbolic of mysticisms "ascent" from the base solid physical realm into the ideal ethereal mystical realm. This choice of direction in the 2D space mirrors the theme.

Note also the physical realm being represented by the textured rock, it is the most solid of things, it has identity, it is inescapably what it is, material, and physical. Note that in the midfield we have clouds which reverberate with the texture of the rock, but here things are less solid, they are in motion, they are soft, they are untouchable, semi-transparent, ineffable. Finally the stars are beyond our reach, beyond our realm entirely.

Observe her "body". On the rock she is textured to echo its solidity, its identity, a concreteness of its being. Her midfield body (dream? astral spirit?) is similar but now it is semi transparent, and the edge of her form is slightly distorted like a mirage or like reflections or refractions from water, she is becoming insubstantial, she is becoming unreal, mystical, astral.

Her final form is more of the same, untouchable, unreal, not of this world.
