    Smile Surface Pro 3

Microsoft has unveiled a new Surface Pro 3 device at a press event in New York City today. Like the previous Surface tablets it still includes a kickstand, but Surface chief Panos Panay says it's designed to remove the conflict of buying a laptop or a tablet......The new kickstand now supports a "canvas mode" that places the Surface Pro 3 at a 150-degree angle, designed primarily for inking.

At Surface press event, Microsoft announced that they have been working with Adobe for optimizing Adobe apps for Windows platform. Adobe executive took stage to announce that Photoshop has been optimized for Surface Pro 3. The app now works well with touch controls such as zoom in/zoom out, panning, and more. Also, Adobe announced that we can expect more news related to Adobe Creative apps for Windows in the future. Adobe executive also praised that Surface Pro 3 along with Photoshop is a creator’s dream.

its related as much as in the fact that a lot of artists (artragers) are still looking for a tablet device that allows them to be mobile while being able to run software such as Artage, Photoshop, Painter etc and on top of that we'd like a device that doesn't cost the earth as does Wacoms Cintiq hybrid series.

I hope I'm able to try out the suface pro 3 if and when it appears in the shops. For now I'll keep an on it through the web. Hopefully someone will do an Artrage video using the SP3. But for now check this vid I came across:

Oh, also the vid is interesting as it shows off the n-trig pen tech used for the SP3, the last two Surface pros used Wacom pen tech. A lot of artist forums are up in arms about Microsoft chamging the pen tech as the n-trig tech has less pressure sensitivity. But there's much debate about whether that actually matters or not....

Interesting. After decades of listening to the sales pitch for every next big thing, these guys all sound the same to me at every tech step. But that's to be expected.

This sounds interesting for sure. They always do. I am also interested in seeing what it can do in a context I would use it. . . on the open road as it were -- high resolutions with lots of finesse to the art tools. Maybe it can do all that. Would be cool. And then there's the price point for new tech. So I will take another look when the waves have settled a little.

Thanks for the early look. I'll definitely be keeping an eye open for it.
