    Cape Reinga

Cape Reinga is at the very furthest tip of the North Island (Te Ika a Maui) of Aotearoa-NZ. It is, according to tradition, the departure point for the souls of the dead to leave this world for Hawaiki, the source and destination of all life.

Well, I deleted the wrong one. Never mind. A revised one is below :-)

Brett... beautiful colors and soft watercolor effects on the sky and hills. just one thing though I found the ruler straight sea horizon a bit disconcerting. I would find it more natural if you maybe went along that line again by hand so there was some irregularity. it would be more in keeping with the soft natural appearance of the rest of the work......a beautiful piece however.. I love the colors in it.

Astute point, GX. I agree Hypotaxis.

It's a great technique, I dare say. I love the line quality in the foreground grass and on the hill. It's interesting your use of places where the line is washed over and areas where the paint is pushed aside from it where it really features the line in a big way. I could see places in future paintings where both qualities could work well, and indeed in this one as well. Looks like a couple good ways to go with it.

Interesting story about the location as well.

Love the overall composition and the color palette on this one. Love it a lot.
