    House Fly Texture

Another character for my animation. A house fly. I have created the 3D character already, mapped out the UVs. Spent a little time in Photoshop creating the basic mapped areas to texture. Now it's time to get busy in ArtRage creating the final textures. Will keep posting as I progress.

Your use of AR3 to create your 3D art is interesting and amazing. I like your last one too. Thanks for sharing with us. I don't know 3D at all. Just know how to look at them

Thanks for the comments. pai, you should try 3D sometime. Like ArtRage, it is very addictive; a weekend KILLER !!

Here's the transparency and bump maps for the wings done. I know I've made it overall too shiney at the moment, but I'll fix that as I go.

Latest update. Includes Color Map, Transparency Map, Specularity / Glossiness Map, Bump Map and render so far.

Still got a lot of work to do on the body, but the wings, eyes and legs are pretty much finished.

Nice work. Not sure if the hairs are too dark or not. They make the fly look somewhat "grubby"/"grungy" - but that may be the look you are aiming at.

    Cheers

Thanks for the comments. I've softened the hair color a bit and added an additional bump texture.

Stunning and awesome. The final piece is so beautiful and many details to look at. May I ask what 3D program you use? Really interest to see how Artrage and the 3D work together. Thanks for sharing this steps to us. I really like to look at them.

p.s. one thing except you use PS to do the mapping, are you only using AR3 to paint?

    Thanks for the feedback.

    The 3D application I use is Lightwave 3D 9.6.

I used AR for all the painted maps. I only used Photoshop to create the canvas with the mesh outlines. But you could skip PS altogether and take a screen capture directly from the 3D application into AR.
