    I thought I had commented Brett, but apparently not. Feathers are hard to do I find, even an illusion of them. You may not have intended but the outlining in this version looks very much like Stained Glass. I like it.

    Particularly this birds feathers which have a hard metallic sheen to them. I hadn’t intended stained glass, but it’s a good idea.

    Even if as you say the first try looked too “flat”, for me it still sort of works. With the textures you have going on there it reminds me a bit of marquetry work.
    And, as June says here, with the addition of the outlines on the bird in this second version it dose give this one a bit of a stained glass vibe.
