I love the wry grin too. Definitely not Cheshire. I have had several black cats and they are a bit like blank canvases with the mouths being so hard to see other than when close up, and mine, being pranksters, I can kind of get they have a sense of humor. And a happy cat means a happy. . .um cat.
Charming. Love that you ran it toward deep blue-purple. Livens it up over straight black. Seems to give it more dynamics.
