    problem with annoying background gradient

Every time I create a new painting, ArtRage sets up an invisible light-to-dark gradient that runs from the upper left corner of the canvas to the lower right corner of the canvas. The canvas appears white, but as soon as I start scribbling with the pencil the gradient manifests. My pencil strokes are dark at the lower right corner of the canvas, but they are completely white and invisible in the upper left corner of the canvas! I've tried many different paper settings but this annoying gradient keeps returning and it's ruining my beautiful stick figures!!! :P Is there any way to turn this invisible gradient off?

Hah! Found the solution! My canvas was fine, the problem was that I had "Metallic" (found by the color picker) turned all the way up. Everything works as it should when I turn "Metallic" down to zero. No more unwanted gradient.
