This was actually the first attempt for a self portrait ever. I made a single line sketch of my face from a reference picture. Then added some schading using a pencil with precision turned off so I could set the slope to 75% to mimic charcoal. Worked on the right with some black/blue watercolor to mimic ink. The background is on a separate layer, combination of colored chalk, 'inky' watercolor and used the knife to smudge parts of it.
Drawing on a tablet is still very new for me, and goodness I really have to get used to it still!! Its difficult!
I love it though.
I tried a portrait because I am horrible at portraits, and hope to learn (some day) to do it better. I decided that the tablet is a good tool for practice purposes.
I always shy away from portraits, they are so terribly difficult. But the time has come to step out of the comfort zone lol
So here is my first 30 minute tablet attempt. Constructive feedback is always very welcome.
I used a reference picture, but did not trace (as you can see :P)
I tried to color it a couple of times but then the time was up, coloring it right is hard I think.
Hey there again,
I know I am new and should not post too much but its a bit addicting.
I found a new tool that I liked, so I tried again until the 30 minutes where over (so its not finished yet).
I decided to stop using the reference picture, it makes me nervous lol, so this one is more fantasy.
Hi All.
Thanks to Yngve, Marilyn Anne and FantasyShades for their recent contribution.
Picking here and there in the 50 pages of the thread I find really amazing how people can be creative in 30 minutes !
Here is a small painting that I have done with AR in ... around 25 minutes.
