    major earthquake in new zealand

Just read a news item on the earthquake that struck just south of Gisborne. There seems to be only material damage, luckily.

I hope artrage team is not inflicted by the quake.

    Are you guys all OK?

Edit, just checked Google Earth you're about 250 miles away. If you're in trouble then probably we all are.

the earthquake was reported to be felt as far south as Wellington (which is roughly the same distance from Gisborne as Hendersen, Auckland is.

It would be comforting to know that everything is allright...

    Yikes.

I too would like to know what's happening in Middle Earth.

Seems something woke Balrog's brother Belvrog and he's really enjoying ArtRage. He's even posting some very cool pics here at the Ambient site.

Only reason I'm making light is because it sounded like the quake happened far away. But we're all still very concerned.

I come from earthquake country and we develop this sort of curious but matter of fact attitude unless it's in our laps -- not counting tragedies elsewhere, which we share the compassion everyone feels.

It was a reassurance to hear that the only damage was property.

    There was an earthquake?

No problems here - didn't even feel it.
