In love with ArtRage and Art Buchwald

    Hello,

I just got a new tablet and wanted to try it out....what program better to start with then ArtRage!

I am just starting to get back into being creative again...(Any one know the book the "Artist Way")ops:

Anyway I thought I would start to show art work .....so here it is:

    Portrait of Art Buchwald:
(I can't upload images yet.....dont know why..but if goto gallery and search "smartdog22" you will see the image.)

    Any comment would be great.
    (tracing layer and stippling)

It kind of has the Andy Warhol thing goin' on. Looks a lot like a photo
that has been silk screened upon. Is that what you were going for?

    Gzairborne,

First I would like you know I like you work :-)
    (been lurkin for a while...)

I think I started off with pointillism and then moved closer to a Chuck Close idea of painting. I kind of think I maybe channeling Philp Guston's backgrounds with texture and brushwork
(some kind of sick artist joke of mine...please forgive)

Really just an experiment with tracing layer and paintbrush tool. I think I am going to really get into ArtRage. I really like the look and feel of the digital painting creation tool application.

Andy Warhol thing....interesting...it was lots and lot of dots and some scrubbing with the same brush. I just picked up the colors from tracing image.

I have just "tapped" the surface of ArtRage....waiting for my CD Copy :-)

Thank you for replying...did not see the Andy "vibe" you saw...interesting what people see....curiouser and curiouser the world becomes.

Ah well ya know he did that whole series of famous people and he took the photo and then silk screened the paint on top the image. That is what it reminded me of for some reason. I suppose you would have to paint some Fauve colors on top to get the true Warhol look. Maybe because it looked like the black and white image coming through with the paint on top is what made that association for me.

Here is a fun Warhol link to change colors on Marilyn:

    Very cool!

I immediately thought 'Chuck Close' when I saw the image.

    Really nice.

    Aren't tablets awesome?
