    It starts with a photograph but there is much also done with a brush. It is combining the best of both.

    If you find the focal point, you can give the other elements less saturation, so when then the other sheep, there is a burst centering on the ram in the middle, and even to daubing white on the edges of the painting. It is how to simplify and maintain the details you want and give it energy when taking other things out.

    I do a lot of southwest paintings and drawings and am used to working with a palette of these hues.

    I do a lot of things in Xara too, an illustration program and CorelDRAW. I am fully able to do an illustration which is hard to tell from a photograph. The reason I paint is to loosen up and to go the other way and to experiment with pleasing effects that I often will incorporate into my work.
