    Fire explosion and Importing textures

    Fire explosion and Importing textures

    Fire explosion

This is the way I done mine in angels and demons http://www2.ambientdesign.com/forums...pic.php?t=7868

....I painted most of it...but that for that last little bit i imported a texture

    1)
    New Painting
    W: 1280 H: 994 150dpi
    Click on : Grain
    Change to Canvas
    Press OK
    Roughness to 50%
    SCale to 25%
    Colour ...I chose Black
    Press OK

Zoom out to see whole canvas

The hottest part of a fire is the centre......which is yellow or white

    im going to use white

    2)going from the centre
    White -centre
    yellow - ring 1
    Orange - ring 2
    red - ring 3

    then some smoke
    grey - ring 4
    black - ring 5

Use the oil brush to paint

    3)
Use the palette knife to make capital mmmmm shapes between the rings

    Palette knife : Pressure : 50% size: 45%

After that reduce the size to 20% and make smaller mmmmmm shapes

then go around again with the soft palette knife
    pressure : 50%
    size: 20 %

Youu can do this until you get a feiry cloud effect

    Importing a texture
you can add a bit more to the explosion by importing a texture

As above(explosion) ...then add a new layer "add layer"
click on the new layer to make sure it is active( green box)
click on tracing icon at the bottom
    choose your texture...

could be a pciture of volcanic eruption
I chose some cracked concrete...you can use whatever you like
experiment!! remember to save your file

    so we've chosen our texture

    5)
    click tracing again and then
    "convert tracing image to paint"

    6)
    click tracing again and then
"clear tracing" to get rid of the transparent image used for tracing

    Next......

    7)
click on the arrow on the active layer (the one with the texture)
click on "Normal" ...then "More Blend Modes" then choose "Overlay"
this sort of mixes the texture picture with the layer below

    8)
To change the size of the texture
click on the arrow on the active layer
    down the menu choose
    "Transform Layer contents"

    use the
arrow symbol: to move the texture around
magnify galss symbol: to increase/decrease the size of the texture
rotation symbol: to spin the texture
right hand arrow at the end: more options...flip texture horizontal or vertical..

    press OK

    9)
click on the arrow on the active layer
    down the menu..choose
    "Merge layer below"

    10)
If you have excess texture use the eraser tool to rub out unwanted areas

    11)
    Now ....nearly there.............
11 a) Using the smooth palette knife doing a zig zag path WWWWW
blend in everything Start with large zig zags

11 b) then use smaller zig zags for a smoother outcome.(see Picture)

11 c) also you can do these shapes in a horizontal line

12)Depending on wind and other factors...fire wont be symetrical
so using the rough palette knife spread out the orange colour to one side and put some flying debris in.

    experiment and enjoy !!

    13)
    Any questions......just ask

    Nice one Enchanter! Thanks.

Importing that texture is a great way to keep the colors from being too smooth and regular.
