We're glad you find it useful. It just seemed like such an obvious idea - people who are painting or working often want to refer to a photograph. Many digital artists I've seen using other applications were forced to either arrange their windows very carefully so a digital photo is visible from another application or window, or to constantly tab back and forth between their art application and their reference picture.
It just seems natural that in the real world you'd pin a photo to your canvas - you should be able to pin a digitial photo to your digital canvas in your art applications.
I'll move this post to the 'tips and tricks' section. Some people may not even be aware they can pin references to their canvas.
