Grey Crowned Crane
Feathers instead of fur!
June.
Oh God of homeless things, look down
And try to ease the way
Of all the little weary paws
That walk the world
today. - Unknown.

Oooh, nice one June One of my favourite birds!
Good job with the crest, they can be tricky things to render, considering their lite, open “fuzzy” structure.
Also like your choice of using lightning more usually used for studio portraits, makes for quite a dramatic feel

Thanks Mark. I did wonder how I was going to render the crest. I used my animal whiskers preset - duplicated the layer and adjusted the position of that layer a little, then airbrushing and smearing with the palette knife produced a pleasing result. I also used the metallic paint to give it a 'sparkle'.
