Completed work in ArtRage as WIP in Gouache

This is something new for me, but I've been wanting to do some painting in gouache again (after many years) but figured that I could do the studies and final sketch in ArtRge and then print the result out as the underpainting/sketch for the gouache piece. This is an aviation piece based on the last operational flight of the Grumman F-14 Tomcat as it went into retirement. The image has a "Twilight Zone" type of twist as I've got the F-14D of VF-31" Tomcatters" being escorted over Long Island by an F3F-1 of VF-3, the first USN Grumman fighter to carry the famous "Felix the Cat" emblem. No idea as to how the final painting will turn out, but this is the final ArtRage comp.

So much detail - it must take hours and hours of work to complete.

Will do. Haven't worked in gouache in quite a while, so this isn't going to be a quickie. (Meant for markw)

Definitely, but I enjoy the research too and that's a large part of the work, with no guessing allowed (there's always someone that will inform you that this or that doohicky was actually green, not blue, etc., etc., etc....)

I don't know how it's supposed to get posted regarding the value range of the image, but they're coming across as sort of faint.

I hope you don't mind that I adjusted it (back?) to where the values have more of a complete range. It looks super that way. Just one quick move with the value slider. Sometimes our monitor is adjusted in a way that doesn't translate to the common range.

These are all remarkable. I really like this one.

That looks great. I've been looking at ithe image for so many hours that I'm not really seeing it any more. That brings out the clouds much better on the horizon past Block Island and the Vineyard.
