    St. Francis

From a photo of a statue of the patron saint of animals. Appropriate as my daughter today brought home from their farm to her suburban backyard a newborn calf whose mother was unable to look after her. She was found shivering and abandoned so we are keeping our fingers crossed and hoping St. Francis will keep an eye on her.

    June.

Oh God of homeless things, look down
And try to ease the way
Of all the little weary paws
    That walk the world
    today.

Close, she is Jane, Frances and one of her twin daughters is at uni studying to be a vet. So yes, we are a family of animal lovers. She had some vet students over to meet the calf who sleeps in the laundry at night.
