    Dark and bright layer

    Hi,

I am working with glitter tubes. I notice an oddity that is difficult to explain. Perhaps the options are not correct. My original layer is rather dark (1) but when I select it it's bright (2). In your opinion, what is the reason?

Finally I prefer the bright one. How to keep this effect?

    Thank you for your answer.

It looks like the right hand image comes from when you choose to transform the layer which temporarily turns off lighting to make the transform faster.

You can turn off lighting by pressing F5 or going to View -> Canvas Settings and unchecking 'Canvas Lighting'

The reason the first image is darker overall is due to shadows projected by the lighting. ArtRage uses lighting for all of its paint texture and canvas texture effects, so if you disable it, all paint effects will appear flat.

Very interesting really, thank you for these details.

So is it possible to keep a layer with light and another without it?

Lighting is a global setting in ArtRage, so affects all layers.
