    Custom Brushes Ver 5 Question

    Hi,

I really love a lot custom brushes in Artrage 5 that comes with it, and mostly I use are all the bristles/canvas ones , in addition the blenders. My question is how can I only use Artrage 5 to create brush head/brush strokes and all different settings in my style. Let's say can I create this custom brushes to allow me to have insta dry on and off ?

It maybe possible covered this topic before in previous Artrage 4.5 (just assuming) , however, I looked through the tips and tricks section and couldn't find how to create custom brush. I maybe overlooked and due to my concentration while reading online these days.

Would appreciate if anyone can shed some lights to show me anywhere tutorials/forum posts to create the custom brushes like the one in Artrage 5? Thanks.

Hello pai, nice to see you back on the forums again
Sav Scatola, or Boxy as he’s better known on these forums, has a good tutorial on making a Custom Brush from scratch.
You can find it here: https://www.artrage.com/designing-cl...h-sav-scatola/
And lots of official AR info about the Custom Brush here: https://www.artrage.com/manuals/cust.../custom-brush/

Hi Pai! The custom brushes work like stamps or sticker spray so you don't have the ability to change settings like insta dry, etc. as you can on the regular brushes. The only settings you can change in custom brushes can be found in the Brush Designer.

You can change a 'mix with colour' option to get dry/wet brushes, you just have to go into the Brush Designer > Color > toggle 'pickup color'. And then it's probably easiest to make both dry and wet presets.

This page may also help https://www.artrage.com/manuals/natu...nding-brushes/

Hey markw and Enug, thanks so much for all the info and guides. It's happy to be back and mostly excited to be able to pick up Artrage again.

markw, I checked out the Artrage links/pages you provided about the custom brushes, it's so useful.

Enug, I already tried again to create under Brush Designer (I was the last few days, guessed I didn't quite pick up at that time), just now I was able to create one that seems to what I want.

My test on the created one. Looks good now.

    Hi Hannah,

Guessed I missed your reply when I was writing a reply. I did try what you have suggested and still not enough wet oil paint look like using the paint brush tool. IAlso finished all the settings on the links you and markw both provided. Didn't see an guides on how to create brush head/grain image (such as bmp or jpg, or png). Possible all these might have posted before even in previous version. Coudn't find it.

Did you see this page? https://www.artrage.com/manuals/cust...head-settings/ . There's a section near the top on images.

It just needs to be black and white, and some form of image format. JPEG is best to keep the size down as larger images will affect the speed of the brush, but as long as it is pure black and white (or you want grayscale for a specific effect), it doesn't matter. Don't use transparent images and watch out for canvas lighting if exporting from ArtRage!

Thanks Hannah. I did check all of them. Can't find more easy way to explain that I could understand ..haha, guess I am too dumb to pick up on text/words. Easy for me if I can see a step by step video on how to create brush head / brush grain (simply how to create that B/W) I did test it but it seems not right, the brush strokes show very light, can't even see. Something maybe wrong in my process of that "grain" or brush head "shape" . I will try again. Thanks so much for your help.

Hope if any Artragers have a tutorials somewhere here on on internet, would appreciate if can share the links.

Just want to say I finally figured out how to combine with creating sticker process and the Artrage 5 Brush Designer to create my own brush style.
I couldn't find anywhere on the Artrage user guides links/pages that can help me or explain more details for me to understand.
However, I finally found this one from youtube that I could understand the process. Maybe someone also can find this video also helpful.

The link to Andrea's video didn't work for me but here is another video you might find helpful.
