    Oils in artrage not realistic?

    Here is the question.

Shouldn't oils to soak into the canvas or/and into lower layers? That is what not happens in Artrage unfortunately. The only way to mix new and old layer of oils is to use palette knife.
Correct me if I am wrong,

Whatever I do with oil brush its always stays dry to me -> sharp edges ( adding thinner doesn't help).

    cheers

Oils do not mix across layers.

Make sure instadry is off. Paint directly on the layer you want mix paint with. As an alternative you can duplicate a layer and then paint on the new layer and you will see the blending.

I paint on the same layer with instadry off. That doesnt help at all.

But ure right - u have to paint on a NEW LAYER to mix...........but that doesn't make sense at all. How am I suppose to finish the image? On 200 layers?

    Every stroke changes value. Why?

The problem is simply that you are using very high thinners and low loading and pressure. There isn't enough paint or pressure to mix, only to 'glaze' over the existing strokes.

Adjust the settings, or scrub away at the same spot, and you should see the paint mixing.
