Everything a little more complicated than clicking on a tool and drawing/ painting, I learned from the manual (versions 2 and 4.5). So yes, I'd like a 5 manual, too 😊.
Haha. We'll consider it (it also increases the download size and very long manuals aren't easy to get translated, so we've got a few other reasons not to). But we'll definitely cover as much as possible on the website, so if there's anything you're stuck with, let us know and we'll write more about it.

In the meantime, start here: https://www.artrage.com/manuals/cate...rage-5-guides/

However, even if you never need the new toys, the interface redesign (+docking options), multiple documents, and improved speed/stability* should benefit everyone (and required an enormous amount of work, so would definitely not have been worth doing just as an AR4 update). Those aren't as flashy and noticeable, but the backbone of the program is improved.

*For example, not only should you see fewer crashes in general, but the saving process has changed so you shouldn't get those annoying lost/damaged files when your save gets interrupted. And, uh, I don't want to tell how you big a canvas certain testers managed to create because then everyone will do it, but it was definitely well over 20,000 pixels across.
Nice to see Artrage 5 but...... I cannot believe one thing, it's 2017 and Artrage 5 HAS NO DARK UI TO CHOOSE?
How did u manage to miss that?

I will upgrade to v. 5 the first day u fix this!

    cheers!

So far I am really liking the V5 version! The desktop layout seems to work so much better for me than V4.5 did.

For me, the pencil works better than ever. The pastel brush is "really" great now! I am still holding out for a setting in the pastel brushes (wax/chalk) that gives us a square and rectangle head to paint with, like a real pastel square head or the side of a pastel.

V5 seems "snappier" to me too.

I have not messed with the custom brushes yet. To me; and the way I think, the custom brushes will be easier to work with than stickers/stencils. We have it all now!

I think V5 is a total winner. I am not disappointed at all!
    Hello,

    U have DARK UI enabled?

    June.

Oh God of homeless things, look down
And try to ease the way
Of all the little weary paws
    That walk the world
    today.

AR5 is very great - but my wishes are:

1 st) faster workflow with layerblending-shortcuts, it wolud be nice if we could have these options, made (or change current layerblendmode) a new layer with a special blend mode
2 nd) flipping + transformation of all layers horizontally/vertically works only fine, if all layers are unlocked - can you change it?
3 th ) translation of the ui into the german language is not 100% perfect

Having trouble with lines- glitchy and squiggly.

I use Astropad and Ipad for my drawing surface, that could be the problem.
edit: fixed it. Don't know how, but I kept fiddling with it til it worked.

    1) Tricky to add, but I'd like something like that too (currently I set up one layer and duplicate it if I know I want many of the same blend mode). I'm not sure it will be possible, but it's something for the suggestions list.

You can click on the icon for an active blend mode to open the list, which is a little quicker than the full menu route.

    2) If layers are locked using 'lock all', that means they are unable to be changed for any reason. If you do not want to lock the *position* and use Transform, change the lock type to 'lock paint'.

    3) Can you send us some examples? We do have some German speakers who can check, but they aren't involved in developing ArtRage 5, so we'd need to tell them exactly where to look.
