Need some help creating a sticker spray/brush

Hey guys. I've been attempting to make a Chain sticker spray. I have it looking decent but.. if you want to go too big or zoom in there is an issue... the sticker is in 2 pieces.. the front view of a link (the oval piece) and the side of a Link (the straight bar).. Well every time the sticker spray lays down a new link it places it on top of the previous link. I need that side view link to always be on top no matter what. As you can see in the pic it doesn't quite look right. Not sure how to get it to do what I want it to. Or if its even possible.

There is a way in the form of a compromise, which I've used since the Sticker Spray was first introduced. The compromise comes in having to make the two links overlapped from the beginning and to then set up the Sticker Spray tool so that it puts them down in a manner that the link with the hidden opening (so the link that looks like "l" not the link that looks like "0") is trailing away from the direction we drag our cursor.

    For example:

Nothing is easy to the unwilling.
