    Abandoned Homestead

I found a photograph in a list of abandoned properties and used it as a reference photo, laid a grid and carefully painted it to find out that it was actually supposed to be an historic site. So, I deleted it and will remove it from my portfolio.

HwyStar, thanks for the heads-up on this. I took a few days to paint the cabin and made sure that the scale was perfect. I changed the logs around the door and windows, changed a few other things including the trees and outbuildings, and I added grass to the "yard", but at a glance, the painting and the reference photo were very close. I even had the image on my Zazzle store. I guess if I use a photograph for reference, I'll have to use my own photographs and not trust online "abandoned house" sites. Oh well, it's good practice. The Lincoln Cabin.... just my luck.

I lived in Decatur IL when I grew up and have seen this cabin before. The Land of Lincoln.
