Layer your characters
I keep forgetting to take a moment to snapshot some samples of my construction of panels for my webcomic. I place my actors on separate layers and even use different colors for the penciling of different people in a scene. Placing items on individual layers allows you to reposition in relation to other things in the scene, edit your sketch of a character without destroying other things in your drawing and acts as a visual guide to recognize all components of any given character. Some actors in my shot are so close and intertwined that when I begin to add color (on a separate layer) I lose track of what shape goes to what color clothing. If I get really organized I'll even take the time to rename layers for quick reference.
