Found this on the Net and just wanted to paint it, the title was very strange, don't know the artist, tried to find out but no luck, it said The-Bull-Painting, but no bull in the painting, anyone have info on this DAkey, Caesar

Ah, good find Rondo!

Yeah Pat, "the bull" in the picture is the level of "shootin' the bull" or whoppers spake under the influence in the old alehouse. Nice to see that some of the blue chip euphemisms survive. So that's the name of the watering hole: The Bull. Funnily enough it's also the name of the house magazine put out by the Journalism Dept. at the local community college. The college used to be agricultural so it's got a double meaning there.

Anyway, the painting is really nice, Pat! Yours is very close to the original. I think the difference might be in that the original might have been painted larger, though I couldn't say for sure. I say that because the source one is a bit sharper and has a little more contrast. But yours looks swell.

If you ever choose to, you could consider pushing the contrast in most all your paintings in strategic places. It would make your stuff a little more forthright and less like looking through the gauze of nostalgia or idealism. Purely a personal choice of voice however. I think if I were to use a singing analogy, yours with less contrast would be akin to how a chorus might fit into a piece, versus the sharper focus of a lead singer. Both are fine for what they do, but your stuff tends to be a wee bit more ambient than say an artist like Pino.

But it's all great. And am watching your paintings unfold with great pleasure and interest.
