Googling for images I came across one that I liked and emailed the photographer http://www.jenniferlynking.com/ asking for permission to use the photo as a ref and she kindly responded with a 'yes'

Wow. Visually striking and excellent piece.
June you did so much justice to the photo, this is perfect, love the lighting you put in yours, wonderful piece
You captured the colors and feel so well! Beautiful painting!
Very ethereal, a very well rendered painting.
Looks to me like you flattened out the log almost like a table. And my flight of fancy is that these are little faerie style creatures gathered to sup together.
A very nature story feeling to this. I wonder what they have to discuss.
Love the addition of the trees in the background. Adds lots of interest and hints at the forest world. "God rays" are always very dramatic and evocative of something grand. By the way, those aren't garters and nylons from the 20s or something? The flappers are in so break out the bathtub gin?

Thanks everyone- DA the mushroom stems do look like womens's legs wearing garters - trust you to spot that.

Beautiful with a surrealistic, fantasy feel...
Magical place for a convention of little folks ....
