Is it absolutely necessary to use a stylus?

I'm new to Artrage and use it on my ipad air 2. As I understand it, the air 2 has some issues with stylii. I like to do portrait work. Has anyone any comments, suggestions? Thanks

Not at all. However, it's generally the difference between drawing with your finger and drawing with a paintbrush. The paintbrush isn't perfect, but it's usually a LOT easier than your finger

Thanks everyone. I'm waiting a delivery of a stylus. Will see how I get on. I admit doing detailed work is tricky, even with my child-sized hands

And yeah, I tend to avoid drawing on devices when I don't have a stylus around, unless forced to for testing purposes.

Just avoid drawing on devices that you dont often work with it
