    one step at a time

I think i figured out how to get so far in AR. I imported the image then using the ref panel click load image, that worked. Then clicked on tracing image and clicked load image ,that worked. Now my problem. I can't paint on the tracing, why ?

Just out of curiosity, what is the opacity setting for your tracing image. I have found if that is set to full opacity, it appears as if the paint is not working.

Okay, let's just break out the basics before this thread gets confusing again

If you've added a tracing image, then you should have something like this:

Name:	tracing images.jpg
Views:	212
Size:	87.8 KB
ID:	89613

    Important points:

1: Tracing image at 50% opacity. Drawing on the canvas will be partially visible depending on how opaque the tracing image is, but will look normal after you hide the tracing image.

2: Tracing image menu. You'll need to open this (or right click or click and hold) to access more options

3: Tracing image 'automatic' colour picking. Click on the colour picker to turn this off and go back to normal colouring. To learn about how it works, see this tutorial: http://artrageteam.deviantart.com/ar...king-447673465 (featuring my cat and one of her kittens from a couple of years ago. Awww).

Now, if you open the tracing image menu pod, you'll get this:

    Name: tracing image menu ar4.jpg
Views: 244
Size: 63.7 KB

Slide 'Opacity' around to adjust it so you can see the right amount of canvas and tracing image at the same time. Click the little menu button to adjust the position/scale of the tracing image and find any other options - including 'convert to paint' which will add it as a PAINT layer on the canvas (the tracing image will still be active, btw).

Click the eye to just hide the tracing image.

I do play with opacity,I am curious as to how things work and what they do. Like selections, why do they contain the paint sometimes and not others? Another learning curve

I tried to import many times an image, but it just would not happen. My next try was cmd n for a new canvas,i did this three times with jpg/png and I did get a tracing image the ptg would not work.Still at it. I may just do free hand until I figure out tracing. Thanks for your patience.
