Hello DJM
In what way did your Bamboo fail after installing El Capitan?
Wacom say on their forums that the Bamboo should work with El Capitan using driver 5.3.6-6
However the driver installation is a bit awkward under El Capitan. Apparently it will only install if the System language is set to ‘English’ and not something else, including variants like English (UK) or English (US) etc...
See this post on Wacom's Bamboo forum: http://forum.wacom.eu/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=27760
I tried the suggested workaround in that post earlier today and indeed the driver did install. But not actually having a Bamboo I could not test functionality of the installed driver further.
Anyway, below are the steps I took to install the Bamboo driver if you or others are curious.
1: Download Bamboo driver; 5.3.6-6 first but don’t try to instal it just yet.
2: Next, Wacom say to change your computer’s System Language to ‘English Standard’.
Note: This was a little confusing as I found on my computer there is no “English Standard“ listed exactly as such in the list of system language options.
For me I needed to use the option ‘English’, just one word.
3: In your Mac’s System Preferences go to ‘Language & Region’.
4: In the left column look to see which language is listed first and appended with the word ‘Primary’, this is the language your system is currently using. (Make a note of it if you need to as you will most likely want to go back to this after installing the Bamboo driver.)
If just the word ’English’ is already in the column, drag it to the top where it will now be appended with the word ‘Primary’.
5: Close System Preferences. You will be asked if you want to Restart your Mac, do so. Go to step 7.
5a: If just ’English’ on it’s own is not already in the lefthand column then click the ‘Plus’ icon at the bottom of the column to bring up a list of all available system languages so that you can add it.
This list is in two parts with a faint separating line at the end of the first part. Choose the ’English’ option from this first part of the list, not one of the other English variant options found after the separating line in the second half of the list, e.g. English (United Kingdom), English (United Sates), etc…
6: When offered to have it as your ‘Primary Language’, accept it.
Close System Preferences. you will be prompted to Restart your Mac, do so.
7: Once your Mac has restarted now install the Bamboo driver.
8: Now go back into System Preferences and reset you System Language to your preferred language option you originally had and Restart your computer again.
