"Thick oil paint" look-like

Hello!
I try to obtain a "Thick oil paint" look-like. To be clear, please find an example in the following link (could not upload here the picture, don't know why)

I had a double approache to reach my purpose. I start with:
1. Paint tube
2. Oil brush

Then I used the palette knife. Unfortunately (for me ) the results are slightly far from my purpose. See examples of my attempts in the following link

based on your experince, can you please give me a direction to the right path to reach my aim? Or indicate a link, a tutorial, etc etc etc

Yes “impasto” work can be done in ArtRage but you have to work at it a bit to get that sense of “depth” to the paint.

markw - that seems to be a BIG approach to what I aim for! I will just start to exercise those things.

PS - I am still not familiar with the some art terms, as I am working in a technical environment. But it came the time to find an equilibrium to this.

OK, first 3 attempts.
Better than nothing -but I still not reach what I want.
In this moment, there are 2 main Impasto "styles" that I like. One of them I succeed to approach in the first drawing (there can be seen the "traces" of the brush).
But the second style, that should be like this:

is still to be reached. The most close thing until this moment was to use the painttube, and then the wax pastel, to make "neat" the traces from the tube (3rd drawing). Now I must fing a way to put the brush traces "inside" the shape resulted by the sequence "paint tube - wax pastel"

BTW - the wax pastel succesfully removed the "black point" that usually remain after the use of the paint tube.

In the second drawing I used the "hard out smear" palette knife, outside the face. Inside, partialy the "normal" paletteknife and partially a brush, but some margins look like ripped... hmmmm...
