    Newby. Where do I start?

Help! Is there a "getting started" manual. Rec'd my ArtRage download for Christmas and I'm not ready to start drawing or painting. I tried to trace a photo and when I put the pencil down where I wanted to start I get lines shooting off in the opposite direction, and I found no way to adjust the thickness of the line, either. I need some basic learning here... Any suggestions on where I might find it?

Hello Lanie and welcome to the ArtRage forums

I have to say that lines shouldn't just shoot off at random. That doesn't sound right...
For more focused advice from the good folk here, maybe you could give some info about:
    ArtRage version
    Operating System
Input method, i.e. Graphics Tablet, Mouse, Fingers, whatever…

As for exploring ArtRage in general, I would suggest you just prod, poke and play with all the tools first just to see what you can make them do. And just have fun!
Once you have a basic feel for some of them you can start “creating”. (and still having fun don’t forget!)

You can find loads of tutorials in the forums here and on Ambient Designs web site: https://www.artrage.com/
    And their DeviantArt page: http://artrage.deviantart.com/
And as you have just done, you can always ask questions here. And remember there is no such thing as a dumb question. Everyone here knew nothing about ArtRage either the first time we used it!

SomeoneSane has an excellent beginners course on ArtRage on Lynda.com. Excellent introduction to all the tools and interface.

And try to ease the way

That's not normal! Are you using ArtRage 4 or ArtRage Lite?

If you're using ArtRage 4, can you check whether Snap To Grid is on (in the Grids menu - the crosshatch in the top bar)? This can produce some weird results if you aren't expecting it.

If that's not the problem, your tablet drivers might be playing up, or something else might be going on. Contact us at [email protected] with an example and information about your version of ArtRage, system, and input device (e.g. mouse, tablet?) and we'll try and get you sorted.

You can adjust line thickness using the size indicator in the bottom left - tap on it and type a number up to 500%, or ta and drag on it left and right (up to 100%). Or press shift and drag left/right on the canvas itself as you draw.
See https://www.artrage.com/manuals/artr...oard-commands/ for a whole list of shortcuts, especially the 'modifier' commands up the top.
