First one with rounded drive somehow appeals to my eye more.

Yes the first one as the straight diagonal forming the driveway in the second one is a little distracting.

They are both beautiful dear Pat but I also like the one with the rounded edge best it seems to have a better flow. Best wishes Jo x

HI Pat... yes I vote for the rounded drive, in that version the dark line give a transition into the plantings and makes the courtyard flattened out and lie down. in the bottom one it appears to be floating , since the focus and details is the same all over, normally the colors in the back would be darker and have shadows from the buildings and the detail smaller as you receded.. ( just my observation ) love the colors ! and happy to see you busy painting again.

As a composition I rather prefer version one. It leads and keeps more on the focal point the sight. Moreover the first one seems to tenderly hug You, the second one to hastily push You towards the door.
    Both wonderful anyway!

    Nice painting

The rounder one seems a bit sharper but they are both quite lovely.
