    Total Newbie Here, Hello

Hi - I just watched a very cool video with the artist using ArtRage on the iPad. Unfortunately he never said what stylus he's using.

I am totally new to all of this and I would really like to get started using ArtRage. However, I have a major dilemma before doing so ---- What pen to buy ?

I know everyone probably has their personal preference for various reasons. I've gone to a lot if Amazon pages and read reviews. Wow, I don't know what to believe! I originally thought about the Adonit Jot Pro but read about screen scratching, losing tips etc.

I want to do this very badly.... It will be good therapy for me. I'm retired / disabled 64yo. I have an iPad 4.

Since I am kinda on limited income I'd rather not buy, be disappointed, buy another etc. etc. As for my budget that's a tough question. Obviously I'd like to stay under $100.

Can anyone point my nose in the right direction? Feel free to send me a personal message if you want. Thanks so much!

Welcome! This may help you get started: https://www.artrage.com/manuals/artr...tylus-support/

It lists the styluses that we support in the app, and gives you an overview of what each one is like. For example, the Adonit Jot Pro is a decent all-round stylus that is well supported by ArtRage, the Pogo Connect has a range of very nice brush tips, and so on. That should help you focus your research a bit.

Maybe you can post the link to the video here?

Recently I had the opportunity to test 2 different stylus on an iPad - one was this with the tiny disc at the tip
and the brand of the other one I can not remember, but I can find it out.

I did not like both of them!

I had to press very hard on the display with then to get any effect.
I had the fear to break my display or make scratches into it.

I have not tested the Wacom iPad stylus yet, but I won't test further 3rd party
stylus anyway, cause I get an iPad Pro at Christmas.

Maybe you can start with a regular touch sensitiv stylus for 2 dollar. At least
for sketching it works - and you can't break the display.
Kunst muss nicht immer kompliziert sein!
