Ask the Ambient Design Team Stuff!

Hey guys! We're planning on updating our site to include a better 'about us, about ArtRage, interview with the developers' type of section, to give people a better idea of what they can expect from the program, about our company philosophies, and whether we're secretly an evil corporation or not (we're not*).

So we figured, why not give you lot a shot at asking us the questions you've always wanted answers to? Ask anything you like, and we'll pick out questions to answer and put up on the main site.

*But then, that's exactly what an evil corporation would say.

Right, I've got a starter for the staff.

Are they getting ready to sell ArtRage to Adobe or some such? Sprucing it up to sell?

    Felicitaciones!

Una de las cosas que más me gustan de este Foro es la amistad que practicamos entre todos...

    Excellent idea!
    Congratulations!

One of the things I like most about this forum is that we practice friendship among all ...

Are the creators of Artrage art enthusiasts? Do you create your own art, or have a background in art as well as in programming? Can we see some of your art? (If the answer is yes... Not that you need to have a masters in fine arts to be a good programmer... but I have wondered.)

To answer quickly: None of the programmers are artists (well, one of our tech staff is learning, but that came out of working with ArtRage. If they're interested in sharing, we'll cover that in the Official Answers later), though they all get very enthusiastic about art. Especially if it used ArtRage.

I am an artist, and was using ArtRage for years before joining the team - I keep most of my art very separate from my work/real identity so I'm afraid you can't see the good stuff, but have produced some to illustrate ArtRage-related things (mostly I'll be writing something and go "...NEED PICTURE" and dash something off quickly. If I spend 5 hours on it, then it's probably going into my personal portfolio instead). If there's uncredited art on the website (other than the official store preview stuff), it's probably mine.

I'd love to see a development blog of some sort. What new technologies are being discussed and worked on, small hints, nothing major. Questions though... What improvements or ideas might we see in the future concerning water colors, oils and markers?

Q: How can we become beta testers for Artrage 5 which no doubt you are secretly creating in your secret underground bunker in the hope of trying to keep it secret from, er stealers of secrets.
