Monet left his brush and it seems defective

No way to get any continuous brushstroke! LOL Well just another experiment using the impressionistic brush sticker and a reference picture I took.

I think more than it being an Impressionist painting, I think it might fall under the heading of Pointillism because the strokes are so isolated. But I can see what you were joking around about.

I wonder if an impressionist painter copied a pointillist painting and then the pointillist painted their version of that, and then the impressionist reproduced that one that when it was all over the only thing left would be a reduction down single dot on a page. Could make a great party game, and the one with the last dot wins (or loses depending on whether it's an impression or a point or an impression of a point or the point of the impression).

Anyway, your marks are enough certainly to know what the source photo was. Kind of an interesting effect. Your colors certainly enhanced the picture a lot. Pleasing.

Dear Caesar, I like the result you show here but if you want a 'continous brushstroke' try moving the Spray Rate slider.

David, you can find a couple of Impressionist brushes in the Art Brushes sticker spray group - there are also another couple listed as Van Gogh, in the same grouping.

You're right that it's probably more like a pointillist painting, although pointillisme in Italy, when it arrived, was defined divisionismo and we had great masters adopting, but transposing that idea (quite natural since our specific and considerable artistic tradition, great venitian painters, Posillipo school, macchiaioli, successful Italian painters in France etc.).
One of them was Segantini, but a few more worked with that style one century ago or more. Their aim though was not to mainly get the scientifically determined optical effect by means combining primary or secondary similarly shaped/ sized color pixels to form the images, they rather intended to give paintings the most vibrant look, by means of numberless of thin and free brushstokes and traits providing simultaneously brilliance, airiness, fitting color tones and textures combining the most proper hues and their complementary ones, avoiding the "fauve-like" effect of Seurat or Signac and getting instead an enhancement in the realistic paintings domain.
As for my little experiment I used one type of impressionistic brush and didn't modify its parameters. One of the problem was that the traits and the brushstroke direction were essentially perpedicular to each other. So if I moved my hand horizontally I got a sequence vertical strokes. Obviously we may do a lot better by using more impressionist sticker and changing their settings, but I just wanted to carry out quickly this experiment at the moment.

It's not really the Tiber this one, it's the end of the Pescara river flowing into the Adriatic Sea in the middle of my hometown of Pescara. The town actually has both the historical port channel (for fishing boats and mid-small industrial cargoes) and a marina for yachts and other pleasure crafts. So a Marina rather that Marino there ... LOL

Dear Joey, the attempt was to see if a certain sticker brush was able to change (more quickly and still effectively with reference to pure a single strokes longer handwork) the picture into a more lively, vibrant and colorful version of that view. Reasonably satisfied as a starting experiment, but the too simple approach should be improved. Thank You!

I was aware of those stickers, but too lazy to use more than one impressionistic type and to change its mode and settings while I was looking exactly for filling areas with many little and aligned brushstrokes of different colors to get the optical effect (and that would rather require You may set away to switch casually among few hues, the selected one more often and its complementary one, for instance).

dear Caesar, great to see your experimenting a bit with stickers, I like the result although I can appreciate how it must have frustrated you a bit not to have more control over it, but I do like the result and you have inspired me once again to take a look at stickers etc. I was also amazed and pleased to see AndreaMG back among us..!!!.
