Here is one done with the gradient fill using the blend mode "difference" to make the pattern. Used the selection tool to pick out areas of the pattern. Used the paint tube on metallic setting and filled in the selected areas. Used the knife tool set on instant blend. Set the canvas texture. Its all madness.

a beautiful result, like a crystalline virus structure... love the play of the black and gray against the ruby reds.
