    Jasper

My precious boy Jasper was diagnosed this morning with diabetes. As with humans, there is no cure but a lifetime of daily insulin injections and frequent trips to the vet for blood tests. After discussion with the vet we have decided not to go down that track and enjoy the remaining time we have with Jasper. We will know when it is time to say goodbye. Just telling you now because it's easier at the moment while he's still purring and enjoying life than in a few weeks or months when we have to make that decision.

Oh God of homeless things, look down
And try to ease the way
Of all the little weary paws
    That walk the world
    today.

The last time I kept an open mind,
my brain fell out and the dog grabbed it.
Now it's full of dirt, toothmarks, and dog slobber.
No more open minds or dogs for me.www.gms9810.com/

Thanks GMS - this image was posted as a 'tribute' to Jazz - I posted the original a couple of weeks ago and explained then that I used the Gloop pen, Ink pen and airbrush. I also used a couple of texture layers but they got lost under the many 'hair' layers. Lots of layers of hairs with the ink pen in varying shades. I didn't intend for the canvas texture to be showing in the eyes but as I painted them first on that layer I was stuck with the texture, however I later liked the result - a happy accident! Sometimes I used the blender on the hairs then drew more over the top. The canvas was one of Mr.Paint's soft canvas textures - I can point you to it if you are interested.

I'm glad you like it - I will have it put on a large canvas and hang it in my computer room so that he is always with me.

Thank you Jean - we know when we decide to share our lives with pets that we will probably outlive them but we keep doing it because of the joy and enrichment they bring to our lives. Jasper will be 11 in October. Rocky is almost four so hopefully has a lot of years left.

So sorry, June, love. I fully empathize. I think those of us who grow so fond of our pets have had to feel what you are and shall. May it be graceful for all concerned.

That is a phenomenal painting, by the way. Lots of love in it.
