    Brilliant painting. Love the detail in the feathers especially.

    The feathers were done using the crewel embroidery short stitch. It works especially well for recreating feather textures. You can find it to load from Fashmir. "Sticker Spray Sewing Machine" This was dated 03-19-2012. You will have to experiment with the variations. Give it a try.

    This is the stitch I have used to create all of my bird paintings. The one that was most satisfying was "Goliath Heron". That one took a lot of time to get the look of the feathers right.

    That stitch works well in recreating fur also. So, give it a try.
