GASP! More compatibility issues on the horizon! Out (*#&%-ing) Standing!
Might have been more of a warning shot across your bow, matey. . . Or it could be issuing in a new world order. . . I mean a new pair o' dimes. . . I just recently bought 8 and 7 because I just did BootCamp on my Macs for the first time and needed compatible OS's for some new/older PC software. . . (ugh! thank goodness it's tax deductible. . .)

Thank goodness, I hate W8![]()
I really like 8.1 but 10 is better... having the same OS on all devices, on the desktop, the tablet and the mobile... The Win 10 has been developed together with the users for a long time now and I guess that means a good experience for most people.
I sure hope it's all it's cracked up to be. I'm still on Vista and anything's better than the thought of the only way out being Win8.1!
I like 8.1 - going straight from XP to 8.0 was no problem at all and 8.1 a few months later posed no problems for me. The only modification I made was to install a start button and by-pass the 'tiles'. I'm looking forward to Win10.

I didn't notice until today that I have a new icon on my task bar - another Windows icon - when I hover my mouse, this one says 'Get Windows 10'. Investigating further led me to Windows Updates where I found an 'invitation' to reserve Windows 10. I had been reading a forum discussing Windows 10 and the new Windows icon, otherwise I don't think I would have noticed it.
I wondered why 'reserve' surely there will be plenty to go around. However, FAQ's explains - Between reservation and when your upgrade is ready, the files you need for the upgrade will be downloaded to your PC to make the final installation go more quickly. Then, when your upgrade is ready after July 29, 2015, you get a notification that lets you get started with your upgrade.
These two links provided me with a lot of answers to questions about Windows 10.

BTW I have 'reserved' my copy - just in case they run out.![]()

I took a chance and "reserved" my update. I SO hope I'm not making a mistake. Microsoft is bad about leaving out little details. My wife's laptop was messed up so we did a 'refresh', which promised not to affect her existing apps. If I hadn't known that apps aren't the same as installs I would have had a problem. I had to reinstall everything anyway because neither of us use any of their apps.
The last time I kept an open mind,
my brain fell out and the dog grabbed it.
Now it's full of dirt, toothmarks, and dog slobber.
No more open minds or dogs for me.www.gms9810.com/
After heading me in the direction of that small start screen I am a true believer in following you, Juneso I have reserved my update

I have done a refresh and the Windows' site explains clearly what will be removed and what will be reinstalled. Apps is just another term for programmes.
Jean, don't follow me blindly, I might lead you astray! The Classic Shell menu certainly made the changeover easier. It appears the new release will have the start button.
