    The Basilisk

Among all the mythical beasts, the Basilisk is perhaps the most monstrous and destructive... I imagine one of these would be enough to reduce a lush valley to a lifeless wasteland in less than a month before moving on to another place, leaving a trail of misery behind it.

But it's true it's also beautiful (and very lonely), in a certain way, and a great subject for art; I once made a watercolor of a Basilisk and decided I would make more, but in the end didn't for some reason or another, so now that I'm getting more comfortable with digital painting I wanted to make a Basilisk illustration with Artrage...

It was specially fun to play with the forest lighting and to put in elements like the fleeting birds, the fireflies and the wilted flowers... I hope you enjoy it because I certainly enjoyed painting it.

    Thanks for looking!
