Thanks so much for sharing this, those clouds look amazing. Could you share a bit about how you go about making them?

    Hi Delofasht and thanks............

it will be a bit difficult with a mouse but I'll try...............................my tablet and pen (Wacom Intuos 2 ......old like me) has developed a mind of it's own!

I'll present it in screen-shots with explanations.

Thank you so much for taking the time to show the process, as to your Wacom is it the drivers? Mine was going wonky for awhile there and I rolled back to older drivers and that seemed to fix it.

This process is excellent and I can really foresee it being extremely useful for some production work, they are very realistic looking soft clouds with not a ton of work involved in making them. I can see an almost unlimited potential for application, and the process isn't terribly different from creating clouds using some wet into wet techniques traditionally, using a soft brush to blend some of the areas together and then hinting in some new colors with a dab of color and blending that it.

As for digital techniques, I really love the layer blend modes, in some work I just want to increase the saturation along rim of core shadow in a piece and I can totally do that with a saturation blend mode so much faster than trying to glaze it in traditional. (though there is a definite point to knowing how to do both) An interesting digital technique I learned recently was to make a new layer and fill it with white paint and set the mode to multiply then merge it into the layer below to make any dry paint on the canvas a wet paint, extremely helpful if I want to change the brushstrokes or texture of the thick paint in lower layers (you can adjust the bump blend mode to give more texture or replace it or ignore the base thickness of the paint on the layer below too). Someonesane made a video on Youtube showing that one and the credit goes to him for it, probably the best trick I've learned in ages.

    Just beautiful!

You're welcome Delo...........having had absolutely zero training/lessons and being self-taught (but ONLY with ArtRage!) I'm totally lost and mystified by what you describe........to be frank................. I am first and foremost a singer/songwriter who hit a "dry patch" and found ArtRage...............started digitally painting and really enjoyed what it gave to me...........then re-discovered my muse.

I'm really pleased that you've found this technique interesting!
