That's mostly why I never, ever buy anything from Corel. Other companies like Adobe are greedy but Corel is the worst.

The last time I kept an open mind,
my brain fell out and the dog grabbed it.
Now it's full of dirt, toothmarks, and dog slobber.

I never really got into Corel as it didn't seem to do more for me than the software I already had. That may be unfair to them, but I hopped on the Adobe wagon a long while back, and between PS and ArtRage I'm in great shape (for the stuff they do). I'm not a big fan of the Adobe Cloud though on principle and looking at the ultimate costs and having someone else able to get their hands on my work at every stage of development. Thus my customary turning to Adobe may be changing, except for what software versions I already own which are localized on my computer. Call me paranoid, but I don't like the idea of something in which they can cut me off from my tools and my work. I've heard Steam also has this potential. Corel? Not sure what their plans are regarding all this.

I don't like the whole "cloud" concept. I have Elements because it came with my Intuos but I MIGHT buy the new version someday. Even if I could afford the criminal prices for PS and AI I wouldn't spend that much money. I use Gimp and am quite happy with it. I also got Painter Lite with my Intuos but wasn't impressed and sent it to live with Jimmy Hoffa. Another good program for painting that almost as good as AR is Mypaint. Free and has a ton of brushes. I've not found anything that beats AR for simulating paint.

There has been some issues with Painter since the latest .Net upgrade on Windows computers. Or it is something else? I have tried the Painter 2015 and there was no problems installing it or installing the latest patch.

Still, I will not buy this very expensive software. I have the X3 version, it is almost the same as 2015. Just a few new brushes to pay for.

Corel Painter has the highest price tag among all painting software (we, actually TVPaint is more expensive, but that is also a advanced animation program) that you can buy these days. So I did not buy Painter 2015 this time. I already have enough painting and illustrating software.

I have ArtRage (49.90 USD), ClipStudio Paint (49.90 USD), Krita (free), SketchBook Pro 7 (25 USD per year), Photoshop CC (9.99 USD / month including Ligtroom 5). Thesare the prices for the full software, not upgrades.

Painter will cost me 429 USD if I buy the full software. That is about 8,5 times ArtRage and Clip studio. And more than 3 times the price of the Adobe Photography Bundle...and besides that; an upgrade to the latest Painter will cost me an extra 200 USD per year. The other software does not charge any upgrade cost. Both Sketchbook and Adobe includes all new versions in the subscription...
