    The Turquoise Gate

Here's a little piece I just finished. It was inspired by a house I saw years back when I went to Santa Fe to study with Joyce Pike. I originally painted it using my Prima Acrylic Palette Knife technique and it is published in my second book, "Textured Treasures". This is "The Turquoise Gate", a 12" x 16" oil on canvas with a bit of knife work.

I can see perhaps the inspiration for this one was the knife tool and being able to get a bit of the natural stucco look. . . and it works. Nice homely setting in a Spanish style building and patio sort of way. After we finally got some much needed rain, the garden is taking on this sort of flowery fullness. Good one. If your painting this was sort of a rain dance, dance on! We still need the water here!

Happy Holidays to you! Wishing you great painting in the coming years!
