    What Bird is That?

I thought it was a pretty bird and needed to be painted.

You painted it and its feathers in an absolutely spectacular way. I guess there's some metallic amount too in the colors.

Great job! Like your choice of canvass. Can't help you with the name. I'm ornithologically challenged.

Looks to me like some type of egret.

    It's called a Reddish Egret.

Thank you Jean I found the dry brush really helped with the feathers.

Caesar, I adjusted the brightness of the head feathers in Adjust Layer Colors. I tried the metallic first but didn't get the effect I hoped for.

Mike, I used one of Mr.Paint's Soft Canvases.

Mark, yes I thought an egret but Google showed me only white birds.

jmac, you have solved the puzzle.

Nice feather textures indeed! Definitely a Reddish Egret. Most egret species are largely white in colour as you say, and even Reddish Egret has a white form, just to make it even more confusing!

Thanks Len - a lot of photos showed the bird with smooth plumage on it's head - much more spectacular when it's head and neck feathers are 'displayed'.

A bristly one. Cute little southern bird. . . but I also don't really know what birds live where. Seems like one of your locals. But I couldn't really say. Nice image tho.
