I'm not quite sure what you're referring to, but if you have a tracing image with a particular colour and you are automatically choosing colours from the tracing image, your tool colour will change to the underlying colour of the tracing image based on where you start each stroke.

Can you describe in as much detail as possible the steps you're using, what you are expecting to see and what you see instead? I should be able to help once I know more.

    Just to verify your setup:

This is what your color picker should look like.

If it looks like this, you should click to change it:

I did a test with a tracing image and normally (as DaveRage said)your color change to the underlying color when you lift your pen,but in the setting of the tracing image you can de activate that and choose the color you like.
Does this help in any way?

If you hide the tracing image ( open the tracing panel, then click the eye to hide it ), does the colour then look as you expect? As the tracing image is partially visible, it will affect the apparent colour you see. If you hide it you should find that the colour matches the one you picked from the colour picker.

If this doesn't help with the problem, please send me a screenshot illustrating the problem to dave@ambientdesign.com and I'll take a look at it to see what's happening for you.
