Artrage Gamma BUG - Export /Import

Ok, I have to finally report this bug.

When Importing. Exporting image from Photoshop to Artrage, Artrage automatically changes gamma of the image - lightens the image.
    It really breaks the WORKFLOW

The only way to fix this for now is to put it on the Darken layer in PS after importing it back from Artrage.

I hope this problem will be adressed in the future
WORKSTATION : Intel Quad Core i7 4790K, 32 GB RAM, GTX 970 MSI, 2x SDD + 5 TB HDD, INTUOS PRO MEDIUM, 2x DELL IPS 24'' ,Canon Eos 7D, Software: Photoshop Cs 6, Painter 12 Anniversary Ed. , Artrage 4.5 etc.

ArtRage doesn't do any colour correction or gamma adjustment so it's likely that Photoshop is changing the appearance of the data in the file based on your colour profile, but apps that don't apply that same colour profile will display the raw data using standard screen RGB. If you change the profile in Photoshop to your screen RGB, or turn off colour management, Photoshop should then display the data in the same way ArtRage and other apps that don't colour manage do.

    Unhappy

    Thanks for your reply

And here's what Artrage does to imported image.
I opened this JPG / to avoid blaming Photoshop's psd file format/ to three applications :

    Photoshop, Sketchbook and Artrage.

    And here what happens:

    PS - no gamma change:

Size:	75.0 KB

    Sketchbook - no gamma change:

    And Artrage....:/

As I mentioned before , opening the /altered somehow by Artrage/ image back in PS and putting it on darken blend mode, takes image to original state.
    There is definetly something wrong

I could try Painter, too, but Im sure Artrage is the only one messing with gamma

ArtRage doesn't do any gamma adjustment, it just displays the native RGB values without any profile application or adjustment.

The canvas lighting system may be adjusting the perceived light somewhat - have you tried pressing F5 to turn canvas lights off?

Photoshop will be attaching colour profiles to non PSD files as well where it can BTW, JPG supports colour profiles now too so that is probably what's happening there. We use the standard Windows level Image IO system and that is probably stripping the profile on import, which is why it looks different afterwards. Turning off colour management in Photoshop for the image should result in it looking the same as it comes in.

    F5 does the magic!

I think This is important for people using Artrage in workflow with other applications to know this trick

    Thanks!
