As always hair are one of the hardest challenge in a portrait and You have to find a way to simplify them, give ovelall shape, tones thus volume, and still suggest, somehow, with masterful traits, that there is any single hair. Therefore artists use to start with main masses and curves and their tones to get some volume to then suggest, with finer traits, group of hairs ... This is the main improvement You may possibly do pretty soon by looking at fine art and drawing masters (for instance google David Malan site). The last one is the best in this sense too, also because hair are emerging from shadow and are less detailed ....
Panta rei (everything flows)!

I really like your portraits, well done!
Very helpful link, thanks screenpainter.
Especially like the one with glasses. Hair is a bit of a problem on a couple. Try to see hair in volumes then add edge effects that suggest hair ends.
These are fantastic. Keep on keeping on.
great work, Each portrait represents a slightly or substantially different style of drawing/painting. The style is in large part determined by what you plan to do with each example, is it meant as art to hang in the living room or a page in a graphic novel, etc. I actually like the way you draw hair, so it is very personal. I think the customers would be very pleased if you were drawing a portrait on the street for money.
These are some good images. They are pleasant enough as they are, but I feel that you could (and should) push yourself as an artist. Try to ask yourself "what do you want the viewer to 'read' from the image?" Then, you can play with colours, simplification, stylization, tones, patterns etc. To help reinforce that message.
Good luck and keep it up ;-)

Oh God of homeless things, look down
And try to ease the way
Of all the little weary paws
That walk the world
